IFS Classes: Sequencing

Basic Class. This is the basic class where you learn IFS concepts and how to recognize and access your parts. You get to know your protective parts and develop a trusting relationship with them. You learn how to access Self. You learn how to do a basic IFS session yourself and how to listen to a partner who is working on themselves. (No prerequisite) Click here for more details.

Exiles Class. You learn how to safely access young wounded parts (exiles), how to stay in Self, how to develop a healing relationship with your exiles and how to unburden the pain and negative beliefs of exiles so they are transformed. This enables you to do a complete IFS sessions with yourself or a partner. You learn how to facilitate a partner who is working on themselves.  (Prerequisite: Basic Class or equivalent)

Polarization Class. You learn about firefighters and how to work with two parts that are polarized. You develop greater skill in working on yourself using IFS, both in sessions and in real time, and in being a partner. (Prerequisite: Basic Class or equivalent)

Inner Critic Class. Inner critic parts judge you, often harshly, and push you to do things. This class shows how to connect with a critic part, discover what it is trying to protect you from, and form a cooperative relationship with it. It will help you develop self-acceptance and self-appreciation and learn how to transform critics into healthy allies and supporters. (Prerequisite: Basic Class or equivalent, Exiles Class also recommended)

Ongoing IFS Group. An opportunity to work on personal and spiritual transformation using both IFS and the power of the group. We will also apply this inner work to a variety of real-life issues and situations. (Prerequisite: Exiles Class or equivalent)

Sequencing. You start with the Basic Class. Then you can take either the Exiles or the Polarization Class next. The Ongoing Group and Inner Critic Class should ideally be taken after the other three but can be taken after the Exiles Class.
