Societal BehaviorYou may believe that your political opinions are right and people who see thing differently are either bad or ignorant and therefore need to be educated and led You may support leaders who are powerful and competitive and will stand up to the rest of the world In elections, you may be most concerned with winning You may believe that your culture is the best and others should become like yours In economics, you may want your country to be the most competitive In science and technology, your goal may be to control nature for human ends Motivation You may try to control others in order to protect yourself from being controlled. You may try to control others to protect yourself from being judged, attacked, intruded on, or violated. By being in control, you may hope to get love, acknowledgement, caring, or acceptance that you didn’t get as a child without having to be vulnerable in the process or risking rejection. You may want to be gain power as be a way of defending against underlying feelings of deficiency. You may try to control your world as a way of controlling your inner life because you are afraid of internal chaos and fragmentation. You may try to control your world as a way of protecting against disaster or danger You may want to control the definition of reality in order to defend against self doubt. |
