My approach to individual therapy includes the following: Internal Family Systems Therapy. A new approach with I believe is the cutting edge of psychotherapy today. Learning to be Present in the Moment I teach my clients the skill of being aware of what you are experiencing at the moment it is happening, and I use this extensively in my therapeutic work. This means being present with whatever is unfolding in your experience--your emotions, body sensations, underlying motivations, relational connections, defenses, and spiritual states. This gives us both a great deal of information about what is happening as you explore yourself. It brings you more fully alive in the moment. It provides the greatest opportunity for therapeutic healing to occur. And it is intrinsically satisfying to awaken to the truth of each moment. Spirituality Spiritual development is an extremely important part of my own life, and therefore, it naturally becomes a part of the therapy I do when it is relevant for a client. Many people come to me specifically because they know that their spiritual side will be understood and welcomed. I have been a student of the Diamond Approach of A.H. Almaas for many years and this informs my therapy work with clients. Click here for an interview with me on my approach to psychotherapy. |
